Haneda Airport for beginners - Japan Travel (Arrival + Departure) ENG

This blog is not sponsored and is solely based off of personal experience.

Most people are nervous when they travel to unfamiliar countries. It can be difficult to navigate through a place you have never been to, especially when you do not understand a language. Do not worry this blog will hopefully guide you a bit to help your anxiety. Let's begin with what is Haneda Airport? Haneda Airport is one of the two international airports located in Tokyo, Japan.

You know you have arrived to Haneda Airport when you see this:

As you enter the airport you will see this:

Here you will wait in a long line for international travelers. Japanese citizens will be walked to the right for easy fast processing. As you get closer to customs you will walk into a big room that will look something like this:

When you enter make sure you fill out this card as you will be required to turn it in when you reach customs. It will look something like this:

Congratulations you were approved and now it's time to pick up your luggage! Before you pick up your luggage you can use the restroom. If you are unable to find your luggage the workers there are very helpful and kind.

Make sure to use the restroom before you leave that area. If you struggle finding your luggage make sure to check out the "more luggages" section. You can also ask the workers for help. Once you have picked up your luggage/s you MUST fillout the form that describes any foreign objects in your luggage.

In the information area you can find gifts and pamphlets to help you through a lot of Japan's touristy areas and activities. There is also a spot there where you can get wifi and phone services.

This is one of the many pamphlets they have in the information station.

The pamphlet provides a map of the Tokyo area as you can see:

This book is free and comes very handy! It has a lot more pages with a lot of information.

The pamphlet even shows the various types of transportation such as but not limited to bus, trains, boats, etc.

Once you have picked up your pamphlet it is important to check your suica card on your phone and transfer some money so you are able to use the subway station and purchase other items. You have officially entered Japan! Congratulations and have a ton of fun!

HANEDA DEPARTURE

This is where your adventures end for now but don't worry I am sure you will make it back again! Japan and the people there are amazing and so are you! PLEASE ARRIVE ATLEAST 3 HOURS EARLY. ALL AIRLINES HAVE A DIFFERENT SECTION SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE GOING TO THE PROPER SECTION. There is not much help there but you can try asking for help.

You might struggle getting off the subway because you don't want to leave it's okay! Anyways once you get off the subway you will follow the pathway. Then you will see a set of 2 escalators, get off on the first floor and walk towards the "K" if you are flying economy JAL. Once you have reached the letter "K" you can try grabbing your ticket on the computers there available for people. If it does not work it's okay you can grab your ticket as you are checking out. Walk towards the back of K and you will see Japan Airlines(JAL). For other airlines you will have to keep looking for it. You then get your luggage checked in.

Once you have found section K for JAPAN AIRLINES ECONOMY (there are other airlines there as well) please walk towards the back to the right and wait in line until you are able to check in your luggage. After luggage checkin you will proceed to the customs and that will lead you to their airport. If you have some time you can walk around and see the little shops and vending machines they have there. I hope this helped you and have tons of fun in Japan.
